Chemistry Comes to Life: 18th VCÖ Project Competition – GREEN CHEMISTRY

On February 11, 2025, the official handover of project kits for the 18th VCÖ Project Competition on GREEN CHEMISTRY took place. This competition inspires young talents in the field of chemistry, focusing on innovative and sustainable solutions in areas such as circular economy, sustainability, and energy efficiency. Once again, the event set new benchmarks, attracting more schools than ever before. As a long-standing partner, KremsChem Austria is proud to contribute to fostering the next generation of researchers.

Record Participation and International Reach

This year, the initially planned number of 180 participating schools was far exceeded. A remarkable 238 schools from Austria and 11 schools from Germany, Slovakia, and Turkey joined the competition—setting a new participation record! Particularly noteworthy was the increase in schools from Lower Austria, rising from 48 to 52.

Focus on Sustainable Innovation

The competition placed a strong emphasis on sustainability, circular economy, resource conservation, and energy efficiency. Its goal was to ignite students' curiosity and demonstrate how scientific and technical innovations contribute to the development of environmentally friendly and safe products and processes.

Support from Sponsors

As part of the competition, all participating schools received experimental materials worth €1,000 each, made possible through the support of numerous sponsors, including KremsChem Austria. The official handover took place during a ceremonial event at BRG Kremszeile in Krems. We are pleased to support young researchers in their scientific exploration.

Recognition and Future Prospects

KremsChem's logo once again featured on this year’s experiment kits, and our contribution was acknowledged in CHEMIE&SCHULE magazine and on the VCÖ website. We are honored to be part of this exceptional initiative, which encourages young people to take responsibility for the environment and actively shape the future of chemistry. Our sincere thanks go to the VCÖ – Verband Chemielehrer Österreich and the dedicated chemistry teachers who enrich science education in Austria with their creativity and passion.
